SEPTEMBER 2016 PRODUCTION
When developing the idea for A Light in Dark Places, Bruce Katzman (co-producer) suggested that the production could be comprised of several original short plays instead of a previously produced full length. This idea allowed for several different points of view on the topic as well as the involvement of other talented people.
Our playwrights were found from Playground LA/San Francisco, Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theatre - Los Angeles, and Southern Methodist University. We held a writing competition over the summer and selected plays from there.
Once the plays were selected, a group of directors who are a part of the Stella Adler community were assigned plays and then casting began!
The plays had about four weeks to rehearse, and with the hard work and dedication of everyone involved, the show was in great shape for opening night.
Each night's performance was followed by a Q&A with the directors and producers and a wine and snack filled reception where people were able to connect and process together.
