If you are interested in submitting a play to ALIDP 2019, please check out the guidelines below. 

 

You're invited submit a short-form play to be included in the 4th annual A Light in Dark Places: A Collection of Plays for Hope in accordance with National Suicide Prevention Week

Selected plays will receive a six-performance run and a $50 prize

Performances will be the weekends of Sept. 6th-8th & Sept. 13th-15th at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre - Los Angeles in Hollywood.

ALIDP is a nonprofit that uses the arts to bring understanding, resources and hope to those affected by suicide. The plays are to explore the theme of Suicide Prevention with a focus areas such as the experience of living with mental health conditions, healthy conversations about mental health, the after-effects of suicide on those left behind, and resources for those in need.

Up to six plays will be selected from the submissions.

Selections will be announced no later than May 15th, directors will then be assigned, and casting will commence in August. A four-week rehearsal period is anticipated.

To apply, playwrights must submit an original 5 to 15 page, double-spaced script (previously produced scripts are not eligible) via email to: submit@alightindarkplaces.org. Applications must be received by 11:59PM PST, Sunday April 14th, 2019. Please include your name, address and how you heard about us.

An extended deadline will be offered to those who wish to submit between 12:00AM, Monday April 15th, 2019 and 11:59PM, Friday May 3rd, 2019 for a $20 fee. See www.alightindarkplaces.org/shop/submit for details.
